MEANWHILE AT A TORONTO CAFÉ ¦ στις καφετέριες του τορόντο

Three sketchbook entries when there has been minimum drawing for a good few months. High fives and greetings (and big hugs in some cases) to all the inspiring people who surround me.

Warming up.

The one guy there who was worrying and a girl that was collected and looked sharp. I should go back to this and draw it out to completion.

Looking at the image on the right - on my phone - and just doodling in an emotion it brings me, in the roughest of lines. (Vatican photograph is labelled "p/b Dj@milla".)

Quick Sketches of Roman & Byzantine Fashion

I was at a local café in Oakville with my friend Ana Campos, and she told me all about a past vacation of hers to Europe with her cousins. And then in a somewhat forced way I segued our conversation into talking about one of my most-loved topics: things people may not know about Romans.

The good thing about not having had internet access and  of sitting across from a person who seemed interested to know, is that I had every motive to draw what I was talking about from memory. ^_^

Art Deco Movie Theatre ¦ Θέατρο με Αρτ Ντέκο Όψη

"Film.ca Cinemas" is a local attraction here in central Oakville (Kerr Village). The Art Deco rhythm of the building and the welcoming concourse area make it very endearing. Of course, the up-to-date sound system does not hurt either.

On my latest Film.ca trip, I watched "Inside Out" by Disney and Pixar and it had me giggling, aww-ing, laughing, and *at times* (multiple times) tearing up. After it finished and the credits rolled, I said goodbye to the staff, took up a seat on a ledge outdoors, and set about drawing a very simplified version of the theatre's facade.

If you have not seen this wondrous, witty animated feature; I would suggest you don't wait any longer. And if you live nearby and can appreciate low ticket prices, go watch it at Film.ca! :)

Living & Observing ¦ Ζώντας Ζωγραφίζοντας

A drawing of the room around me, which I sketched between turns while boardgaming with my siblings.

A professor-looking man that I jotted a sketch of, between two short subway stops.
A sleeping man on the train back to my city.

A set of friends that were sitting at a different table than our group at the local bar.

Brunchening ¦ Και να μην ερχόταν το φαγητό, ακόμα χαρούμενος θά'μενα.

One drawing was sketched at Cora's restaurant before Luba's, Eyassu's, and my plate was served: it was this one. Black pen on paper.

"One last one."

The last sketch from after work tonight at a fast food place (drawing along with a friend).

Gathering by the Screen

Quick sketch of some people watching "sportsball" at a bar. (To borrow a term that I've heard from my witty co-workers at Conspiracy Comics.) Copic marker and ballpoint pen.

Thanks to Janice Elvina for lending me a sketch book and Daniel Tal for the use of a copic marker.
